Coir is actually the fibrous material found between the internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut - hence the name 'Coconut matting' that it is sometimes referred as.
A very tough and hard wearing, natural product, means that any flooring made from it will have a unique look and a long lifespan.
Because Coir is a Natural Product, it must be delivered to the installation premises and unrolled at least 24 hours before installation. This is to allow it to adjust itself to the room conditions before fitting
Coir, being a natural product, is relatively unstable, and therefore must be fitted on an underlay that allows it to be stuck all over using a strong adhesive. This will ensure the flooring cannot move once fitted
Once fitted, it is important to keep your Coir flooring dry and clean. Any liquid spills are a potential problem, as Coir will tend to absorb them. A simple vacuum as required should suffice in most areas.
Most 'bristle' doormats are made from Coir. This is because they are tough and able to remove dirt from shoes when brushed.
