Marmoleum is similar to the old-style Lino - being a very hard, uncushioned sheet or tile product. Marmoleum is unique in that it is made out of totally natural materials - Linseed oil, Pine Rosin, Wood Flour, Limestone, pigments, and Jute.
Marmoleum is manufactured from totally natural materials, so is very environmentally friendly. It is a hard flooring, available as a sheet or tiles. The appearance is very natural, is it is coloured with pigments, and nothing artificial. Marmoleum, once sealed is totally waterproof, and easily cleaned.
Marmoleum is used in a number of locations. Because it is very hard wearing it is universally used in hospitals and care homes. Domestically, it is found in kitchens, bathrooms, and dining areas because of it's waterproof nature and easy clean properties.
It's extremely important to have your Marmoleum installed correctly. This means that it must be acclimatised for 48 hours before fitting. Additionally, the floor needs to be flat and smooth - and so it is highly likely that the floor will need to be latexed or plyboarded prior to fitting. The floor should also be dry, as the underside of the Marmoleum will not be sealed and so will react to any moisture. Additionally, all joins will need to be welded with colour matching weld, to ensure the waterproof capabilities of the floor are not compromised.
Once fitted, the Marmoleum floor should be sealed using the recommended Marmoleum sealer. This ensures it is waterproof and resistant to dirt ingress. Once sealed, the floor should be cleaned weekly using the Marmoleum cleaner. This will ensure the guarantee of the product is validated.
